Want a photo in on your desktop on a CD or somewhere else? Just drag the photo from a stack directly onto a contact, a group or onto your desktop. When you drag your own photos you create a copy of the original file. When you drag a photo that was shared PicMe will download the original if it’s available. This even works for plug-ins like Facebook.

Did you know you can use PicMe photo sharing to upload and download photos from Facebook? It’s easy just select Facebook from the plug-in menu of PicMe. Once you authorize the plug-in by entering your Facebook code you can drag photos from PicMe right into Facebook. You can also download photos using the copy button and the photos will be copied to your own photo collection. PicMe is a great tool for sharing photos directly with friends but it’s also a pretty good downloader and uploader. Bonus: If you use Flickr you can upload and download photos from Flickr as well.

We released a new version of PicMe this week. We’ve dubbed it ‘the butter build.’ Why? Because performance on large collections is as smooth as butter. We’re now scrolling and viewing stacks of more than 25,000 photos with no noticeable delay. To upgrade just launch PicMe, when it asks you if you want to upgrade just say yes.

To set your PicMe photo sharing icon just find a photo that you like. Select the photo and right click on it. You should see a menu item called “Set as My icon.” Once you pick an icon any friends who have added you as a contact will be able to see this image of you the next time they log-in.
Use the “Add Pictures” button to choose what stacks of photos you want to display. If you see a stack you don’t want shown in your main collection use the “Add Pictures” button and un-check the folders that you want hidden. You can add them back later if you change your mind.
Here’s a little trick. When viewing your photos use the A and S keys on your keyboard to zoom the perspective in and out for your photos. This allows you to see more of your pictures. If you want a cleaner look you can zoom the perspective in to make your stacks of photos look flat.
One of the things that makes PicMe different is that we focus on high quality photos. We wanted to show some of that quality by allowing you to easily view your photos in full screen. When you’re viewing your photo in the film-strip view just click the photo again and you can view your photos full-screen. You can use your mouse or your keyboard to navigate. Bonus: If you have multiple monitors you get a different photo on each monitor. We’re still ironing out this feature so let us know what you think.

We’ve released a new version this week that includes a Facebook plug-in. You can find it on the plug-in menu. Once you login you can easily publish your photos to Facebook. Just drag your photos to the Facebook icon along the left. If you click the icon you can view all your photo albums as stacks. Let us know what you think.
